Sagar Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant review

Just a 4 minute walk from Tottenham Court station, you will find the fabulous Sagar restaurant. Specialising and serving only vegetarian and vegan south Indian food, you won't even notice the absence of meat due to the abundant selection of dishes.

Ordering was easy and the waiter was very accommodating, making the whole dining experience a pleasant one. Despite one of the mains arriving 20 minutes after the first main arrived, the service was good overall.

I chose the Vegan Thali and would definitely recommend it. Don't be fooled by the size of the little silver dishes; eating this thali was incredibly filling for one person! This colourful platter comes with a crunchy pappadam, channa masala, brinjal bhajee, vegetable kurma, sambar, potato play, suki bhajee, lemon rice and paratha. The menu also states "and dessert" but I was so full I didn't even get to question this. So if you do visit and order this, let me know what dessert is!

Our waiter kindly let me swap one of the original dishes for dhal and it was great. Each little dish was packed full of flavour, I just wish I knew which one was which! The rice was light and fluffy but I couldn't taste the lemon flavour. I'm not sure if it was because it was very subtle or if the other dishes just naturally overpowered it. Either way, the vegan thali will definitely cause food envy!
